A Letter from the Chairman

Dear Henry J. Austin Health Center Family:

Greetings, I pray this finds each of you, and your families, doing well during this historic period of health concern and uncertainty. The Board of Directors and the Chief administrators of HJAHC are committed to ensuring that we are attentive, preventive, responsive and responsible in our leadership of this awesome organization. We have been in continued communication and planning sessions to navigate this unfortunate pandemic and our necessary and trusting role in it. We have been guided by the following:

  • Ensuring the safety and health of our HJAHC team members;
  • Creating an environment that is safe and healthy for our patients;
  • Continuing to provide essential life changing and saving medical services; and
  • Being innovative in how we can get the job done.

As you know, we have some of the best people, doing the best work! The Board of Directors recently authorized a robust and responsible recommendation, put forth by the Chiefs, to adjust services, realign (and relocate) some staff and reduce unnecessary visitations to our area health centers. You will learn more about these measures from your department directors. These efforts have paralleled with concerted partnerships with area agencies, governments and community partners. We are all in this together. We believe that the various steps taken will aid in the reduction of unnecessary exposure and “community spread.” We encourage everyone to remain calm and continue to follow the direction of senior administrators and government guidelines.

We are Henry J. Austin Health Center! HJAHC has been providing critical lifesaving services to the community for over 50 years. The evidence of our strength, tenacity and ability to overcome the greatest of challenges, with the strain of resources, is in the longevity of our HJAHC family members and the continued support of our patients and community partners. We will get on the other side of this. And we will get there together. One family. One community. One love.

Best,

Charles L. Davis, II
Chairman
Board of Directors
