Henry J. Austin Health Center and Vision To Learn Distribute Eyeglasses at Dr. MLK Jr. Middle School

TRENTON, NJ (June 13, 2023) – Henry J. Austin Health Center (HJAHC), in partnership with Vision to Learn (VTL), successfully distributed eyeglasses to the students of Dr. Martin Luther King (MLK) Jr. Middle School. The event, held on Monday, marked a significant milestone for the VTL program in Trenton and provided the students with clearer vision, enabling them to reach their full potential in the classroom.

Both organizations played a vital role in providing eye exams to students who had failed their initial screenings, ensuring that those in need received brand-new glasses. This initiative was made possible through the generosity of donors and partners, including the Credit Union of New Jersey (CUNJ) and the George H. and Estelle M. Sands Foundation. Their support showcased a shared commitment to the educational success and well-being of the students in our community.

Members of the press, community leaders, and partners were invited to attend and show their support for the students. It was a joyous occasion that celebrated the gift of clear vision and its transformative impact on the lives of these young individuals.

Special guests in attendance included Victor Farnath, Principal, Dr. MLK Jr. Middle School; James Earle, Superintendent, Trenton Public School District; Kemi Alli, MD, Chief Executive Officer, HJAHC; Reed Gusciora, Mayor of Trenton; Andrew Jaeger, President/CEO of the Credit Union of New Jersey, and Peter Silberman, Chief Growth Officer, VTL. The presence of these distinguished individuals underscored the importance of the event and their commitment to the well-being of the students in Trenton. They joined in celebrating the accomplishments of the VTL program and the positive impact it had on the community.
