Health Connections Assistant VISTA

Zahera Leacock holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Spanish with a concentration in medical and cultural Anthropology from Emory University. She has also received post-graduate training at Rowan University, working in various fields, including behavioral health, emergency medicine, and therapeutic art therapy.  Zahera joined the Americorp VISTA program because she has firsthand experience of the impact of poverty and understands its generational effects on all aspects of life, especially health and wellness. She is excited to dedicate her time to Henry J. Austin Health Center because they support caring for the whole person. Zahera admires how HJAHC cares for future generations by empowering families and community members to live their best and healthiest lives. She believes this is the first step in making the world a better place and can’t wait to be a part of such a legacy. Outside of work, Zahera enjoys the arts, nature, music, food, and traveling.
