Healthcare.gov offering Special Enrollment Period Due to Pandemic

Healthcare.gov Insurance Marketplace opens for new health insurance coverage applications during a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The SEP allows individuals and families in states with Marketplaces served by the HealthCare.gov platform to enroll in 2021 health insurance coverage from February 15, 2021 to May 15, 2021. HealthCare.gov provides step-by-step guidance on how families can determine their eligibility, apply and then enroll in a Health Insurance Marketplace plan.

Being insured leads to better health, educational, and economic outcomes—both in the short and long term. Since the well-being of parents strongly impacts the well-being of their children, ensuring that more parents have health insurance can also improve children’s health.
