There’s a growing strive to incorporate more pharmacist services within community-driven health centers. Last month, a 6-month study concluded resulting that patients who participated in more pharmacotherapy treatments were able to better handle chronic disease management (CDM).
The study consists of multiple pharmacists including two full-time shared faculty members from the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University, the Lead Clinical Pharmacist, and the Director of Pharmacy. Both mentioned are 0.5 full-time equivalents at HJAHC and within the study, all pharmacists were instructed to initially visit the patients for 60 minutes followed by subsequent visits for 30 minutes.
The end results concluded that patients treated by pharmacists at Henry J. Austin were able to better manage chronic diseases including Type 2 diabetes (T2DM), hypertension, anxiety, & depression. To read the full article, click here
