Walk-up COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

The City of Trenton Department of Health and Human Services will bring 2,000 Moderna vaccines to additional sites in all four wards starting, April 20, 2021.

Each of the four new vaccination clinics will administer 500 Moderna vaccines for Trenton residents only, age 18 and older. Of the 2,000 total vaccines available for this project, 200 are reserved for Trenton Public Schools staff who are preparing for the return of in-person instruction. The lines will be outside, so please dress appropriately, as high demand may lead to waiting times.

The City will administer vaccines inside the following sites this week from 9:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m.:

  • Tuesday, April 20 – Mott Elementary School, 45 Stokely Ave, Trenton (South Ward)
  • Wednesday, April 21 – P.J. Hill Elementary School, 1010 E State St, Trenton (East Ward)
  • Thursday, April 22 – MLK School, 401 Brunswick Ave, Trenton (North Ward)
  • Friday, April 23 – Joyce Kilmer, 1300 Stuyvesant Ave, Trenton (West Ward)
  • Saturday, April 24 – Homebound Mobilization Initiative

The City will continue its homebound vaccination campaign for Trenton residents who are unable to get to a clinic on their own. Homebound residents or their relatives can call (609) 815-2556 or email amthomas@trentonnj.org to schedule an in-home vaccine appointment. City medical staff will wait 15 to 30 minutes with each patient after administering the vaccine to monitor for side effects.

The homebound program was briefly delayed following guidance issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the N.J. Department of Health to pause distribution of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which was originally chosen for mobile vaccinations because they are easier to transport and require only one appointment. The City will continue the program with Moderna vaccines while the Johnson & Johnson version is evaluated by federal health officials.

As always, all residents interested in the vaccine should reserve a spot at the state portal at covidvaccine.nj.gov and contact the City Department of Health at (609)-989-3242 or covidvac@trentonnj.org.
