Dr. Rebecca Klege

Director of Research

Dr. Klege assumed the role of Director of Research in July 2021. She comes to Henry J. Austin Health Center (HJAHC) with 10 years of research and teaching experience. Her work spans from conducting randomized control trials, field and lab experiments, and qualitative studies across a wide range of topics. She brings on board her international research experience from countries including Ghana, South Africa, Rwanda and Costa Rica.

Dr. Klege obtained her Ph.D. degree in Economics from the University of Cape Town, South Africa with specializations from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Prior to joining HJAHC she served as the research manager for the Women in Environmental Economics for Development (WinEED) based in Colombia. She has won different research grants, participated in several international conferences in different capacities as a panelist, discussant and presenter. She has also been published in peer-reviewed journals in Economics as well as served as a reviewer for academic journals.

In her spare time, Dr. Klege enjoys hiking the mountains, taking pictures, traveling and spending time with her family.
