Health Connections Assistant VISTA
Yasonna Nelson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, with a minor in Health Science, from Virginia State University. She joined the AmeriCorps VISTA program to gain more knowledge and experience, as well as to help expand the program to other universities to recruit more volunteers. Growing up, Yasonna witnessed the impact of poverty, which made her realize that she not only wants to help those around her but also wants to support her community by finding resources to meet daily needs. Her goal is to ensure that every patient feels valued and understood and that she consistently exceeds their expectations. Yasonna is genuinely excited about this opportunity and looks forward to accomplishing her goals. In her free time, she enjoys nature, reading, shopping, traveling, and food tasting.
