Austin Health Center (HJAHC) y se la puede ver en todas partes, sonriendo de oreja a oreja. Desde la aparici\u00f3n de la pandemia de COVID-19 hace dos a\u00f1os, ha sido una paciente gratificada en el HJAHC. Sheran, de 71 a\u00f1os, es tambi\u00e9n madre, hermana, poeta y, sobre todo, una resistente superviviente.<\/p>\n<p>\"Mi madre me dijo que pesaba un kilo y medio. Y no ten\u00edan todo lo que tienen ahora para sobrevivir. S\u00ed, as\u00ed que he sobrevivido desde entonces\", explica.<\/p>\n<p>A Sheran le diagnosticaron lupus y ha estado en remisi\u00f3n durante 30 a\u00f1os. Sufri\u00f3 un derrame cerebral, una par\u00e1lisis ocular y estuvo en coma durante diez d\u00edas. Unos a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde, le diagnosticaron un c\u00e1ncer de colon en fase cuatro, que se extend\u00eda a todos los \u00f3rganos por debajo del ombligo. Esto requiri\u00f3 que se le drenara de urgencia dos litros de fluidos corporales, se le extirpara un ovario y se le recetaran unos veinte medicamentos. No recib\u00eda ni asistencia sanitaria ni ayuda para el cuidado de sus hijos por parte de su difunto ex marido y, por aquel entonces, pocos centros sanitarios del condado de Mercer pod\u00edan ayudarla.<\/p>\n<p>Hasta el d\u00eda de hoy, Sheran describe su vida como una J.O.B.: la J significa Viaje, la O Oportunidad y la B Bendici\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Hace dos a\u00f1os, lleg\u00f3 a otro gran apuro. Su Medicare no le proporcionaba un plan dental, y Sheran ten\u00eda miedo de ir a cualquier sitio de Trenton y hacer colas fuera. Se enter\u00f3 de que hab\u00eda gente que se despertaba a las seis de la ma\u00f1ana, s\u00f3lo para que un par de personas fueran atendidas por el m\u00e9dico.<\/p>\n<p>\"Me ha dolido una muela. \u00bfQu\u00e9 voy a hacer? Hab\u00eda ido a la Facultad de Odontolog\u00eda de la Universidad de Rutgers, pero no pod\u00edan aceptarme. Y me dije: \"No, ya no puedo volver aqu\u00ed. No s\u00e9 d\u00f3nde voy a ir. No me lo puedo permitir. No s\u00e9 qu\u00e9 hacer. Ya sabes, fue una revelaci\u00f3n. Entr\u00e9 en contacto con una enfermera que me habl\u00f3 de Henry. J. Me dijo que pod\u00eda aparcar en la parte de atr\u00e1s. Tendr\u00eda f\u00e1cil acceso con mi tarjeta de discapacitado. No tienes que aparcar en la calle. Y eso es lo que ocurri\u00f3. Y todo el mundo es tan amable. Oh, Dios m\u00edo. Jennifer. La Dra. Moten. Todas las enfermeras. Linda, la recepcionista. Todos\".<\/p>\n<p>El HJAHC cree que Sheran, y cada paciente, son atendidos mejor con integridad y respeto, lo que fomenta relaciones terap\u00e9uticas saludables que promueven la curaci\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, los pacientes son atendidos con compasi\u00f3n al responder con amabilidad y sensibilidad a la vulnerabilidad y el sufrimiento de otros que pueden estar experimentando cambios aterradores en sus vidas, con la amenaza de perder su autonom\u00eda, dignidad, control sobre sus cuerpos y la direcci\u00f3n de sus vidas futuras.<\/p>\n<p>Sheran nunca ha dejado de vivir. Es una poeta apasionada. En todo momento lleva un cuaderno en su bolso lleno de piezas nuevas o de piezas que ha practicado durante d\u00e9cadas. En su poes\u00eda habla de su vida, su familia y su hogar. Sheran ha actuado por todo el mundo, incluso en lugares de Atlanta.
