Trenton, NJ. - En agosto de 2021, tras 16 meses de grupos virtuales, el Centro de Salud Henry J. Austin volvi\u00f3 a acoger sesiones presenciales de Centering Families. El programa Centering Families es un grupo bajo el modelo de atenci\u00f3n primaria certificado por el Centering Healthcare Institute (CHI) que s\u00f3lo se puso en marcha dos meses antes del estallido del COVID-19. El HJAHC cree que las madres suelen representar la piedra angular de la salud general de una familia, por lo que el programa combina la evaluaci\u00f3n individual de la salud del ni\u00f1o y del cuidador, el aprendizaje interactivo y la creaci\u00f3n de una comunidad en un entorno de grupo postnatal.<\/p>\n

\"\"La coordinadora del programa, Preeti Bhandari, afirma: \"Los proveedores del equipo de Centering forman parte de la sesi\u00f3n de grupo, y el grupo sabe que se trata de su equipo, lo que hace que se sientan seguros y c\u00f3modos participando en la exploraci\u00f3n de sus beb\u00e9s. Los padres han expresado que se sienten m\u00e1s informados, que aprenden sobre el autocuidado y se sienten c\u00f3modos compartiendo sus historias, y que saben que tienen apoyo. Cada sesi\u00f3n re\u00fane a un grupo de 5 a 6 parejas de beb\u00e9s y madres\/cuidadores, de forma regular, durante los dos primeros a\u00f1os de vida del ni\u00f1o. La mam\u00e1 o el cuidador reciben un cuaderno de Centering Parenting con amplia informaci\u00f3n para leer, y p\u00e1ginas para seguir el crecimiento del beb\u00e9 y la salud y el bienestar de la mam\u00e1. Las sesiones de grupo son relajadas e incluyen actividades interactivas y emocionantes, \u00a1y comida! Un proveedor cl\u00ednico facilitador y un cofacilitador gu\u00edan las discusiones de grupo y las actividades interactivas sobre numerosos temas como la lactancia materna, la nutrici\u00f3n, el sue\u00f1o seguro, la planificaci\u00f3n familiar, la salud mental materna y otros. Cada sesi\u00f3n de dos horas tambi\u00e9n incluye un tiempo privado con el proveedor y la oportunidad de realizar inmunizaciones programadas.<\/p>\n

Durante la pandemia de COVID-19, los nuevos padres compartieron que estaban estresados debido a la situaci\u00f3n laboral, al cuidado de los ni\u00f1os durante la cuarentena y a la incertidumbre que rodeaba al virus y a la seguridad de las vacunas. Los padres luchaban por sentirse conectados a una comunidad pero no quer\u00edan salir de sus casas con sus beb\u00e9s. La experiencia del HJAHC con los flujos de trabajo a distancia durante la pandemia permiti\u00f3 una r\u00e1pida transici\u00f3n a un formato virtual. El equipo de Centering trabaj\u00f3 incansablemente para mantener las precauciones adecuadas para volver a las sesiones en persona y abord\u00f3 los problemas de transporte para que las madres estuvieran seguras y c\u00f3modas.<\/p>\n

Bhandari a\u00f1ade: \"Los padres que asistieron al centering virtual expresaron su gratitud por poder conocer al equipo de Centering y a otros padres en un momento en que estaban inseguros y asustados por el coronavirus. Compartieron sus miedos y problemas, y pudimos ponerlos en contacto con los recursos y asegurarnos de que recib\u00edan la informaci\u00f3n correcta y la ayuda\/atenci\u00f3n que necesitaban\". Mantener la camarader\u00eda entre las familias de Centering mientras estaban separadas fue un reto, pero funcion\u00f3 porque, independientemente del reto, nos motivaron a seguir ofreciendo Centering virtual y a crear un espacio seguro para que las familias se reunieran incluso cuando estaban separadas y compartieran sus experiencias.\"<\/p>\n

En este programa, no hay tiempo de espera: la madre o el cuidador y su beb\u00e9 simplemente entran en la sala de Centering Families de HJAHC para su cita. Los grupos comienzan y terminan puntualmente. El Centro de Salud Henry J. Austin capacita a las madres y a los cuidadores para que participen en el cuidado de la salud, tomen decisiones acertadas y cuiden eficazmente de sus beb\u00e9s. Gracias a la generosa financiaci\u00f3n de la Fundaci\u00f3n Burke y del Consorcio de Salud Familiar de Jersey Central, y a la dedicaci\u00f3n de los proveedores, el programa ya ha registrado mayores \u00edndices de visitas de ni\u00f1os sanos, mayores \u00edndices de vacunaci\u00f3n y mayores \u00edndices de lactancia materna.
