Debra Oliver, APN, y coordinadora de  <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/henryjaustin.org\/es\/services\/project-access\/\" target=\"_blank\">Proyecto ACCESS<\/a>...habla de la Hepatitis C con la voluntaria de AmeriCorps VISTA, JoAnn Whetsell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Q1: \u00bfQu\u00e9 es la hepatitis?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La hepatitis es una inflamaci\u00f3n del h\u00edgado. Puede ser causada por diferentes virus que llamamos Hepatitis A, B y C. La Hepatitis A suele desaparecer por s\u00ed sola.  La Hepatitis B puede ser controlada con medicamentos. La Hepatitis C es curable con medicamentos. Si no se trata, se tiene un mayor riesgo de da\u00f1o al h\u00edgado (cirrosis) e incluso de c\u00e1ncer de h\u00edgado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>P2: \u00bfQu\u00e9 cree que el p\u00fablico en general necesita saber sobre la Hepatitis C?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mucha gente piensa que la enfermedad s\u00f3lo afecta a los Baby Boomers, y eso no es cierto. Hay otros <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/hepatitis\/hcv\/cfaq.htm#C6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">factores de riesgo<\/a> y todo el mundo deber\u00eda ser examinado al menos una vez al a\u00f1o. Es tan f\u00e1cil de probar y tan tratable ahora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los medicamentos actuales son mucho m\u00e1s seguros, m\u00e1s f\u00e1ciles de tomar y no implican inyecciones. Hay muy pocos efectos secundarios de estos nuevos medicamentos.  Incluso para aquellos que ya tienen da\u00f1o hep\u00e1tico, el h\u00edgado tiene cierto poder de regeneraci\u00f3n. La cirrosis (cicatrizaci\u00f3n) puede mejorar. El control de la diabetes a menudo se vuelve m\u00e1s manejable. El VIH se vuelve m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil de controlar si se trata la hepatitis C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Q3. \u00bfQu\u00e9 cree que los pacientes necesitan saber cuando se les diagnostica?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Es muy f\u00e1cil de tratar y la Hepatitis C es curable. La medicaci\u00f3n es mucho mejor y generalmente tiene que ser tomada una vez al d\u00eda durante 8-12 semanas. Para la mayor\u00eda de las personas es un proceso bastante simple para ser probado, tratado y curado. Pero hay cosas que deben hacer. El consumo de alcohol juega un papel importante en la cicatrizaci\u00f3n del h\u00edgado y siempre deben hablar con su m\u00e9dico sobre la posibilidad de empezar a tomar medicamentos sin receta, hierbas, suplementos o vitaminas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>P4: \u00bfQu\u00e9 tiene de especial el programa de tratamiento del Centro de Salud Henry J.
