Todos los pacientes son examinados en cada cita de bienestar por asistentes m\u00e9dicos en busca de signos de consumo de sustancias, depresi\u00f3n, ansiedad o insomnio. Austin utilizaron la Medida de Activaci\u00f3n del Paciente -una m\u00e9trica altamente predictiva de la capacidad de un paciente para gestionar su salud- para comprobar si el nuevo sistema mejoraba los resultados y reduc\u00eda la utilizaci\u00f3n de los cuidados de alto coste.<br><br>Descubrieron que entre los pacientes que recib\u00edan atenci\u00f3n sanitaria mental o conductual durante las visitas de atenci\u00f3n primaria, el 87,5% ten\u00eda puntuaciones PAM m\u00e1s altas -que indicaban la capacidad de gestionar su propia atenci\u00f3n- con un aumento medio de 14 puntos.
